Emily and Steven

We met Emily and Steven during an extremely busy time in their lives! Emily was hard at work studying for her boards to be a NICU nurse and Steven had recently moved from New Jersey to Knoxville to start his new life with Emily, his soon to be wife! The wedding day was set for mid-September at the Mansion on Main Street in New Jersey and because Emily & Steven knew they couldn’t get home very often, they asked for our help to plan and design a fun dance-party with nods to their new-found love of the South.

When we visited the venue, we fell in love with an old willow tree on the property.  We knew if we artfully draped it in fabric & lace fringe, it would create a simple, yet stunning focal point for our southern charm inspired wedding!  We knew we had to collaborate with Lauren, from Belovely Floral Designs, because she understands our love of texture + organic shape when it comes to wedding flowers. Also, given the time of year, we really wanted to stay away from traditional fall colors, and Lauren helped us to pull together the overall color palette using mixed tones of blush, greyed jade and hits of burgundy. We wanted to give the ceremony space a romantic & southern vibe, so, we added stacked, vintage fruit crates with pops of floral to create a grand entrance, and we set the one-of-a-kind Belovely chalkboard art with a quote “where you go, I will follow” which hinted to Emily & Steve’s love story, then we accented the aisle with trailing petals to give just the right touch of romance & draw the guests eye towards the ceremony tree.

We continued our southern-inspired journey into cocktail hour, which we re-named “hospitality hour” and the hosts served signature cocktails with deep southern roots.  Guests sipped on Arnold Palmer’s + Spiked Sweet Tea, accented vintage fabric flags, in a relaxed, outdoor lounge setting. Moving on the reception, no detail was spared, from the napkins tied with a metallic twine and accented with a bit of greenery, to the centerpieces inspired by hurricane lanterns and the idea of a Southern hostesses entertaining guests with her eclectic mix of hand-picked heirlooms featuring mixed textures and finishes to strike the perfect balance between old & new to create effortless elegance.

DJ Mark delivered on the fun and his soundtracks had guests out of their seats and on the dance floor all night, he even ended the evening with the football fight song from Emily & Steve’s new hometown of Knoxville!
